Hourly Rates: Where it is not possible to estimate the exact amount of time it will take to deal with a particular matter, our fees will be based on our fixed hourly rates, which are as follows:

Band A – Solicitors and Legal Executives with over 8 years experience – £280 (plus VAT). These fees are based on the Guideline Hourly Rates reviewed by the Civil Justice Council on an annual basis. Timescales

How long a residential conveyancing matter takes depends on many factors, such as whether there is a chain, whether the property is occupied and the requirements of all parties involved with all related transactions.

As an idea of how long matters usually take, please see the following:

Freehold sale or purchase – 2-3 months (on average).

Leasehold sale or purchase – 3-4 months (on average).

There are two types of LPA – Property and Financial & Health and Welfare

Single LPA – £350

Both types of LPA – £500

Registration fee – £92 per LPA payable to The Office of the Public Guardian

Straightforward single Will – from £275 + VAT

Pair of straightforward mirror Wills – from £500 + VAT

Our charges in relation to Probate/Administration of estates work are based on our hourly rates of £280 + VAT @ 20%.

The charges involved with each estate depend largely on its complexity, range of assets and liabilities, and the amount of assistance beneficiaries and personal representatives require from us. Each matter can differ vastly, and unforeseen work often arises as the administration of the estate progresses.

Examples of our usual charges (subject to VAT @ 20%):

– Straightforward application for Grant of Probate only: £1,000 – £1,250

– HMRC forms and application for Grant of Probate (where estate subject to Inheritance tax): £2,500 – £3,500

– all additional work required to ascertain the assets and liabilities of the estate, liaise with any other personal representatives and/or beneficiaries and prepare estate accounts showing the collection and distribution of the estate will be calculated at the hourly rate above, based on the time required.

Probate Court fee for Grant: £303 (approx, no VAT payable)

Electronic ID verification fee-  £20 (per person)

Bankruptcy searches – £6 (per person)

With regard to timescales, this again will depend on the complexity and range of assets and liabilities of an estate. Examples of usual timescales are as follows:

– Straightforward application for Grant of Probate only: 3-6 months

– Preparing HMRC forms and application for Grant of Probate (where Inheritance tax is payable): 6-12 months

– Dealing with the complete administration of the estate from gathering information, obtaining the Grant of Probate, collecting assets and distributing the estate to beneficiaries from 6 months – to 2 years (depending on the size and complexity of the estate).
