Our Fees

During your first phone conversation or initial meeting with us, we will discuss with you the charges that you are likely to incur in respect of your legal matter. You will then be provided with an initial letter setting out the cost estimate for the work we will undertake on your behalf. We will also provide you with an estimate of the disbursements that are likely to be incurred, such as search fees, Land Registry fees and Court fees.
Different types of work incur different charges and we have set out below the types of charging basis and matters falling within those categories.

We are pleased to offer a free initial half hour consultation to discuss your circumstances before you decide whether to formally instruct us to undertake any work on your behalf. Please contact us to request an appointment.

FIXED FEE SERVICES
We are pleased to be able to offer the following fixed fee services:

We are pleased to say that we do not charge additional fees for acting for your lender, dealing with Help to Buy ISA’s or preparing Stamp Duty returns. Please be aware that other firms may charge extra for these matters, so please bear this in mind when comparing with other quotes.

Uncontested Divorces

(Undefended) divorce as Petitioner from £350 +  current Court fee for issuing the divorce Petition of £550. Uncontested (undefended) divorce as Respondent from £350.

Probate and Administration of Estates

Obtaining Grant of Probate from £750 + Court fee of £158 approx Any additional work required for more in depth administration of estates will be based on our hourly rates- see below.

Landlord & Tenant Possession Claims

From £150

(All our legal fees are subject to VAT @ 20%) Note 1. Additional costs may be payable if your matter becomes unusually complex or lengthy, or entails additional work not originally envisaged at the outset.  If this occurs, we will discuss this with you at that point. Note 2. Search fees and disbursements may vary from matter to matter. We will be able to provide a written quote particular to your circumstances upon request. Note 3. Please note that for leasehold property sales or purchases, there will be fees payable to the Landlord/Management Company for their involvement with the property. These can vary vastly between different organisations and we can only provide you with details once we have reviewed the Lease for the property and/or received the information from the Landlord/Managing Agent. Hourly Rates Where it is not possible to estimate the exact amount of time it may take to deal with a particular matter, our fees will be based on our fixed hourly rates, which are as follows: Band A – Solicitors with over 8 years’ experience – £210 (& VAT @ 20%) per hour  Band B – Solicitors or Legal Executives, over 4 years qualified experience –up to £192 (& VAT @ 20%) per hour. These fees are based on the Guideline Hourly Rates reviewed by the Civil Justice Council on an annual basis. For further information about how our firm calculates its charges, or to discuss your particular circumstances, please feel free to contact us. Methods of Payment Clients are able to pay our fees by way of cash (up to a limit of £500 per client), cheque or bank transfer (bank details provided on request).

Sara studied law at Southampton University and went on to take the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Guildford. Sara qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 and has worked in Portsmouth for the whole of her legal career. She is proud to have established a good working relationship with many local professionals and has a loyal client following. Sara undertakes property work, family work, private client matters, non-contentious employment matters and civil litigation. She is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, The Hampshire Incorporated Law Society and the Association of Women Solicitors.
